stock to lifted CA question
Ok , Im getting ready to lift mt 97 JGC again from 3 to 4.5. I'm a fab guy and want to extend my control arms. The question, are the OE control arms (front or rear) the same length as the NON adjustable tubular control arm I would get in some of the lift "kits". Has anyone modded thier stock CA's? Pics?

I would imagine that a 4.5" lift kit that includes arms provides the correct length control arms to center the axle and provide proper caster. Meaning that the arms would most likely be longer, and not the same as OEM.

yeah I would figure that. I did see someone extend the OE arms. Heck of a lot cheaper than a kit and I'm not afraid of my welding skilz.

It would probably be better off to make them from scratch as the OEM ones are questionable in strength.
You can get ajustable arms for under $100 in the FS section at times.

you can use the ends from the stock arms just remove the middle and go from there or you can start from scratch. but x2 on the FS thread.

yeah eventually it will be just a huntin buggy and very mild trails. No huge flexing but need extra height for stream crossing and stuff like that.

Been running these for over 4 years, never an issue. I used 3/16 plate for the top and sides, over lap onto the factory arm is somewhere around 4 1/2 inches.
