Check the front bushings on the lower control arms. They are length-compensating bushings that tend to rip out their centers. I just replaced mine that were 2 year old Moog. Moog are now made in China, BTW. I had kept the boxes and got them replaced under warranty.

Totally different steering configuration on the Grand Cherokee. Single drag link from steering box to right front wheel, single tie rod connecting the wheels. The track bar usually isn't a problem until it's lifted.
