You would think. I even looked up the part numbers for the 2 piece factory exhaust manifolds and best I can tell they are the same. But try to buy an aftermarket Borla header and see how there is no mention of a XJ. But for a Banks one it does say it.

I just know this because I had to replace my whole exhaust awhile back. From the dual cat back and was considering going with Borla for the headers, muffler and tailpipe. Magnaflow for the cats. But for a stock XJ seemed like such a waste that I just went with Walker parts instead.

I was thinking about this and I will say - I bought a 00 TJ brand new and daily drove it for 14 years and over 300k miles. We get rust, and a lot of it.
I never had a problem with the manifold.
What I DID have an issue with (and was told it was a common issue) was the Y pipe it connects to.
I have to think that the reason why there's a difference when looking at aftermarket options is that after the manifold there may be differences between the Y-pipe or something further down the line.
I also replaced my whole exhaust on my 95 and just went with the stock replacement since I've never felt a need for extra performance - the stock I6 is plenty good enough for me. If I have problems with what I have, I may consider the higher end stuff in the future, but I'd have to believe that my engine and body will hold up long enough to make it worth the extra cost.
