steering woes
just replaced the power steering pump and lines ,when I was cleaning up, I found a small mushroom shaped orfice lying on bench.it has about a 1/4 " stem with an o-ring with a chamfered hole and a rounded 3/8 "top with a slightly worn surface with a very small hole thru center ,
never noticed it from any of the fittings or reservoir, and cant find anyplace that looks like it would fit
unfortunately ,my son had just removed an engine from a Subaru and I'm not sure it was from his job .
only problem after install was i cant get the air bled out and pump is very noisy
anyone have any ideas on what this part may be or if it belongs in this steering circuit ?

The reason I asked is that if you are getting air into the oil, it has to have a source, unless the oil does not have antifoam stuff in like say tractor hydraulic fluid. I tried to find pics of the components, but could not for the saginaw pump. However I vaguely remember that there is an orifice under the fitting for the high pressure hose. You might see if it will fit there after you pull that fitting out of the pump housing
