Returned to the 2002 WJ cherokee 4.7 engine after shutting off the engine for about one hour. Attempted start, engine shuttered, would not increase in RPM and shutdown. Same in repeated attempts. No vapor lock, removed the negative battery cable for three minutes, not correction, same problem.

The vehicle remains disabled.

 

There should be error codes associated with this issue. The codes will give insight on where to begin and what the issue is.

To retrieve codes;
"Turn the ignition key until the digital odometer displays, repeat three times in succession and then back to "On" (On/Off, On/Off, On/Off, On). At the fourth "On" the odometer will be replaced with codes. If no codes are present then "Done" will appear.
