my 96 5.2 v8 jeep grand cherokee stalls when i fist start it when the motor is cold. if i give it a little gas for 30 seconds or so i can keep it running and then it will stay running. it only does it when the motor is cold but once its warmed up it stays running and when its warm i can start it up with no problems. i replaced the plugs because they were junk and it helped a little but still stalls. what should i replace next?

 

I would first start with the air intake system. Check for leaks, Look at the filter.

Next, I would check your oil. Some high viscosity oil makes it hard to start while cold. Replace it with something made for cold weather.

Next, Look at the fuel filter, This could be a pain. But fuel is harder to run when it is cold and a bad filter will just make things worse.

Then if all that is ok, look at your battery. Battery also suck during cold weather. Makes sure you have good connections, or need to replace it.

thanks. the air filter is clean but i will look for leaks.

i just changed the oil but used 10w-30. i will switch next time and see what happens.

Fuel filter i will take a look at.

battery is brand new
