Default Squeaky 4x4 lever

New jeep owner here, been on the road for a few monthes now. Wanted an xj but couldnt pass up the deal i got on my zj. Now after driving this everyday im glad i went with the zj. Anyway, as i drive i notice the selectrac shifter creeps up and squeaks. I lube the cables and linkage while replacing the crank sensor. Nothing looked out of place while i was under there. Any ideas on what i should try?

what did you lube it with? sometimes a simple penetrating oil (wd40, pb blaster, liquidwrench, etc) isnt enough. try some wheel bearing grease

My 97 ZJ had the problem of the shifter not moving freely and hardly at all sideways. I had to slap it to get it through the detents. I took the shifter plate off inside the cab and blasted it with WD40 several times while moving it. It freed right up and never gave me trouble again.
