Default this sound right?

Sorry if this has been asked before but im doing the front to rear coil lift and I have a few questions .1st I'm going to be buying some coil spring 2in spacers once I find some that's not 1.75in.my understanding is that I only need 2 which go in the front .for the front springs I'm going to get some f150 coils which I'm been told is what I need .the mid 70s is what I need .then slap the 2in coil spacers on the f150 coils for the front which should give me 4inches of lift.enough to run some 31 inch tires.does all this sound correct to yall?

I did the front to rear spring swap on my ZJ, but used a 3.5" lift aftermarket coil up front that cost about $100. I would think that a f-150 coil might be sprung a little stiff for ZJ. Let us know how it turns out.

I don't know about the f150 coil. I am with North, might be a little stiff for a ZJ. If all you want is to run 31s and want cheap, just get a 3" spacer budget lift. You can get them from ebay with shockes and with or with out trans case drop shipped to you for around $220 or less.

What do you plan on doing? Just to run 31s on the street or are you going to go offroad with it also?

Just for street and mild offroad all you need is a 2" lift to run the 31s. If you need a little more clearance you can trim the front bumper and pound the pinch seam back in the wheel well. I have about 3.75" lift and am able to run 34s on my ZJ. I do need adjustable uppers and lowers in the rear to push the rear axle back if I plan on doing anything major offroad but my 34s fit without rubbing.

My jeep isnt a daily driver its just something to play with.the reason I said 31s is that I read that's the best tire to run without having to change everything and less stress on the jeep .it will be used for mostly mud and trails pretty often .so I need all the ground Clarence I can get.what aftermarket front coils did you buy north? And do you have about 4" of lift?
Also when you swapped the fronts to the back did you add a 2in spacer to them so the 3.5 would be even or just straight swap? I have a 4.0 not a v8 you think they will be strong enough to lift my jeep or would I need v8 springs .

My ZJ is like yours (4.0L) so i think we had the same stock front springs. You won't need a spacer in the rear if you do the front to rear spring swap. My ZJ's stock front springs were about 3" to 3.5" longer than the stock rears... in fact i cut just a little off the coil itself to level the Jeep (see attached picture... if it works, I'm new to this forum).

As far as the front goes I found some rough country springs XJ springs that gave me about 3.0" or so in the front on my ZJ. I know if you go to Fat Bob's garage online you can pick up inexpensive springs for about $100-150.00 depending on what you're looking for. The higher lift you go the more chance you have of that death wobble rearing it's head, so you might want to just try 3" or so in the front and add a 1" spacer later if you want the added height. My 31" (265/70R16) tires tuck nice in the front fender-wells with just a little trimming. I didn't have to trim anything in the back. You will need longer shocks & front sway bar links even at 3" (IMO). Good luck!

F150 coils in the front is a bad idea. They're too stiff and you will end up stressing the unibody until it falls apart.

Thank you for all your help.im going to go with some 2 1/2 spacers and put them on my springs when I swap the fronts to the rear .then buy some 3.5 aftermarket fronts so the front ans rear will be even

a local guy was building his zj with 4.5 re xj springs up front and the f/r swap with just the stock front coils in the rear. i lost touch with him before he got the jeep done though but you can get the 4.5 re coils cheap on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Rubicon-Expres.../dp/B006GJKBGC)

do you know what spacers ill need for the fronts in the rear for them to be level with the 4.5 in front?

1 step forward and 2 steps backwards .after some reading it seems that I can't use my front coil springs because I have a 4.0 I need some from a v8 .so I guess I'll be hitting pull a part

what he was doing was just the 4.5 xj springs in front (they get about 3-3.5 in a zj) and his i6 springs in rear and i think he also picked up an extra set of isolators to even it out if needed but like i said, i never got to see the end result

You can use your coils. The only reason people go to the V8 coils is they are a little stiffer rate so when you add a rear bumper it is less likely to sag as much. If your not going to add in a rear heavy metal bumper or tire carrier your coils will work fine!

That's a great price for a 4.5" spring. Just looked and they're still in stock.
