Sound from only 1 speaker,error on CD player

Sound from only 1 speaker,error on CD player
Hi
I am a newbie here. I have just purchased a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited and it has an Infinity sound system. It currently has 2 problems, 1 there is only sound coming from left hand front speaker, no matter where I have the balance and fade controls set and 2 when I select CD stacker it comes up with an error on the face.
Anyway have any ideas at all please?
