Default Someone cut my antenna wire...

I pulled out my factory infinity radio because the FM wasn't working and I found that the previous owner had cut the antenna wire that plugs into the radio.

I REALLY don't want to run new antenna wire over to the antenna. Is there an after market plug that I can attach to the wire?

Thanks!

Just pick up an antenna from the junkyard for cheap and install that.

You are not going to be able to use the cut wire at all. Shielded wire like that is a pain to reconnect, specially if you don't have the right cable tools. Also, you don't really have a lot of room to work on wire in that position. Like the post above me, go to the junk yard and get a wire from an old jeep, or new wire and possibly antenna from store.

It will save a lot of headache. Tape new wire to old, and pull through...

I did get an antenna from a junk yard, because my power one had quit working also, but the wire attached to it stops at the kick panel on the passenger side.

I don't know how to pull the antenna wire out from behind the dashboard of the doaner car because it is tapped up with the whole wire harness. I was just looking for an easier solution.

I guess I will have to go back and look into pulling the dashboard out.. ugh.

you don't have to pull the dashboard out mang. it's very easy to get the antenna wire. i just did one about a month ago.

you will want to remove the knee panel and bezel plastic, and maybe the heater control unit to gain a bit of access.

it takes a bit of work feeding it through the tiny access hole, but use a coat hanger or something and tape it to the wire and pull up from under the dash.
then just tape it around the original harness, that's how it is from factory, so removing the donor wire is simply the opposite.

just take your time and don't pull too hard or you risk ripping the end off the new one.

Thanks for the info, but.i have to replace the wire from the back of the radio over to the antenna by the kick panel. When i went to.fhe local jy, i saw no way to get that wire out, because it seems like it is taped to the main wire harness behind the dash.

that's the one i was talking about.
it is taped to the wire harness, but it is quite easy to replace.
if you feel lazy, you can just cut the tape on the donor jeep, pull the wire and when you install it in your jeep, just leave the original in there, then just tape this one to the harness too.

it's really not that difficult...

Well, I went to the local jy and pulled a wire out of a donor. I had to pull the whole dash board off to get to the antenna wire, because it was taped in the main wire harness, but it worked! I just ran the new wire under the dash over the glove box to the junction on the passenger side and plugged it into the antenna. Works great now!
