Ive recently started working on my jeep and i was thinking about doing some simple modifications to the engine. Im not really skilled mechanically so any modifications that gain engine power that are easy id love to hear
Thank you

Cold air intake is always a good mod, more power better fuel economy. Spark plugs, and new injectors are also simple.

V8 or 4.0? I think a header on the 6 is a really good upgrade from what I hear.

Cowl intake, bored throttle body, headers, high flow muffler (magnaflow, flow master, etc) 2.5" exhaust pipe. Do not upgrade spark plugs, they won't do anything for an engine with stock internals. I dont know why people always suggest that. Running electric fans free up lost hp by eliminating the clutch driven fan.

As bbojarzin suggested the simple things you can do by yourself but if you can bring it to a car care shop you will save your time and money also because they will guide you in right direction.

save youre money and enjoy it for what it is. stock is 190 hp and lots of torque its never gonna be a speedster without serious money being spent most "cold air" intakes actually suck the hot air from under the hood unless you spend serious money on one that comes with a box that isolates the intake air from the underhood air. the stock airbox is well designed and has openings as large or larger than the throttlebody is capable of inhaleing.
just do the normal maintenance things, plugs, wires, cap, fluids, ect. and spend the extra money on a lift and tires Thats my opinion im sure lots will disagree but thats how i see it
just to give you an example i also have a srt8 grand cherokee that has 420 hp. stock. a cold air intake on that motor is proven on a dyno to make somewhere in the neighborhood of like 9 to 14 more hp. and the one i bought was almost 400 dollars so doing the math on an engine that makes a little less than half what that engine makes you MIGHT make 7 hp more. I doubt you are going to ever feel 7 hp, not to mention if you go thru much water the open filters on those intakes are much more prone to suck water than the stock airbox.
why did i get one for the srt8? because the one i got had been dyno proven for 14 hp and that combined with a computer tuner gave me around 40 more hp which is noticable

A few guys with classic hot rods have gone to electric water pumps. they can save about 25 hp.

no more than a 20hp gain, expect around 15. It'll be noticeable but the only way to know for sure is to get some before and after dyno pulls.
