Should a 1995XJ and a 1998ZJ meet?
Hey guys. Hoping to get some wise advice here about a possible fixer-upper.
So! Lets begin, I found a 1998 ZJ Limited 4.0 in town that might be worth a buy if the guy accepts my offer but here's the thing, I assume the guy had some electrical problem or something he couldnt sort out so guess what he did, unplugged the fuel injection system and took off the throttle body and replaced it with a carburetor. like whaat? but anyhow, this is Africa so ask no questions i guess, since jeep parts are harder to come buy if you dont look hard and that I know from personal experience. BUT! I found a 1995 XJ 4.0 that has no gearbox, at all, but does have axles and engine and transfer case. Now I'd like to know how compatible engine parts would be between the two, engine wise? the XJ is so cheap it's worth buying for the parts a.k.a. fuel injection system, IF all's intact. However I understand that in 1998 the 4liter was manufactured by AMC and might have very different tuning and stuff. There's more to it than this obviously but would it be worth doing, mix matching parts between the two to get the ZJ running like it should? will it work? Keep in mind we don't have as many jeeps around here. So they are harder to find.

Not going to work, the XJ wiring is completely different from a ZJ. A 95 is OBDI and a 98 is OBDII, not going to work that way too.

Hey bud,
Im in Mossel Bay, South Africa right now and drinking a lot of beer from Namibia...you know the one..
Yeah, those two trucks dont have many parts in common.
Keep my name handy in the future if you need small parts and Ill ship from NC if possible.
Cheers..
