i have a 97 zj and the selec trac is really hard to go into 4 low and if i get it in its hard to get out..any suggestions
A sure sign you tranfer case is going, is Hard shifting. keep forcing it in until you can't anymore, then you will need a new T-case. You could rebuild the one you have but it's almost the same price to find a used on and swap em out!
Well with that said.. go with the rebuild.
If it cost just as much to rebuild then to get a used one, why would anyone in their right mind go with the used piece???I suggest climbing under your Jeep and lubricating the shifter linkage before you do anything. When these types of linkages are not used on a regular basis they tend to seize up a bit. Use some good penetrating spray, let sit, and carefully try to work it free.

Are you rolling while shifting it? When shifting into and out of 4L, you want to be rolling about 1 MPH while transmission is in N. Just dont be rolling too fast!
