This is a very dumb question for you jeep guys, this my first jeep ( 98 I6) and I've worked on suspension before, just not this kind, so not a complete noob. How do I remove the springs? I know I need to disconnect steering shocks sways but how do drop the axle? Unhook just top arm or lower, both? I just don't want to do more then I really needed to

The lowers will bind up in the bracket at the axle and not aloow the axle to dropfar enough, so mark the position of the cam bolts and take the lower arms loose from the axle. Also be careful not to damage the brake hoses and ABS sensor wires.

To remove the pring, you need to disconect the Swaybar and shocks, thats IT. The axel should drop enough for removal. You may need to disconect the trackbar if you can't get enough droop. I never have, I use a jack to push the axel downward. If you do unbolt the trackbar or control arms, do it at the axel, not the body ends.

Why are you removing the springs? Replacing or adding a spacer? Pulling the stock spring is a breeze, but installing longer springs or installing the spring after puting a spacer in can be kind of tricky.

If you take the lower arms loose at the axle, it will drop enough to get the spring in without a compressor. It's only two bolts.

Ok thanks guys, it shouldn't take me to long seems pretty simple to me, and seeing that the front axle was just put in it should come right back apart with hardly any fight

Don't know why you need to remove lca. I put in 3" lift coils and did not have a problem. Just took off the sway bar brackets and removed shocks after you remove the shocks jack up the end of the axle opposite the one you want to remove the spring from so it lowers the side you want removed and take off the stock spring.
If spring isn't stock you might need a spring compressor which you can rent from a local parts store. If you don't want to compress the spring then I guess you can remove the lca but it's unnecessary for a small lift or stock replacement and much easier just to leave it on.
Just my .02. Hope this helps.

I had to remove the lower arms when I pulled the spacers out of my rig, the bracket on the axle limited my downword travel. You can try and do it without dropping the arms, nothing to lose.
