i would suggest an aftermarket unit. not vert hard to install. my 07 grand cherokee has factory remote start that also controls climate and defrost depending on season, wife loves it. i would imagine it would not be so easy to install factory unit. thats my opinon

The problem with aftermarket units is they often interfere with the security system and make problems difficult to diagnose. My WJ has one installed by a previous owner and I've never used it. The dealer did to demonstrate it to me before a bought it, but I'd like to get it out of my vehicle because of the horror stories I've heard. After a while, you forget who made it and don't know where to get it fixed, plus they don't do house calls.
If you want one, get the dealer to install the factory system. Just my opinion.

Go with the factory kit. You won't be able to do it yourself because there is module programming that needs to be done. But it is always a better option if it is available. But it's not hard to install. Pretty much a hood switch, antenna for the wcm and new fobs.
