thanks to this forum I was able to get a build sheet and it appears that I have remote locks on my 96 Grand, which were not supplied from the previous owner. I would love to have remote locks, anyone go through this experience and can recommend a remote and a programing procedure?

You'll need to buy the factory remote that looks like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1996-1997-19...-/281379811746
You'll need to go to a dealer or locksmith to program it, however, as after 1995 they switched from the Infrared (IR) remote to the Radio Frequency (RF) remote, and therefore the keyless entry is controlled by the Body Control Module, or BCM. The BCM controls everything but the basic radio (just the basic A/M-F/M radio with cassette deck, and the non-Infinity Gold system), ABS controller, power steering, and heated front seats (if so equipped), but all other electrical systems are controlled by the BCM. Therefore, the remote needs to be programmed via the OBD-II port under the dash by a computer, which is why we can't program our own remotes (1993-1995 Grands have the option of programming the remotes via starting the Jeep, holding any button down on the remote and aiming the remote up at a small dome in the overhead console/trip computer until the red LED on the remote flashes).
