Default Rear lamp failure

Ok so heres the deal I have a 94 laredo and for some reason it flashes rear lamp failure on the screen....but I don't have any rear lights out and I thought it could have been that someone switched out a light and it was a different watt but I replaced all the bulbs and its still there....any thought on what it could be or anyway I can bypass the sensor???

And also did someone check the 3rd brake light. I'm too drunk to remember what the proper name is but check that third brake light.

Otherwise replace that black thing in the back.... Lamp Outage Module or something like that. Someone reply thats not drunk.... Beer is good.

I have a 97 and have the same problem. The computer is reading the wrong amperage of the bulbs. Some were a bulb that is of the wrong type was installed in the brake light bar.I do not know the right number bulb. The post is on this forum about the correct bulb.
The 3 bulbs need to be the same number as per jeep.

Since you have a trailer plug than means you have a converter that combines the turn signal and brake lights on the trailer. That converter could be causing your problem. If it's a factory Jeep conveter you will find it behind the spare tire, if it's an add on it could be anywhere.

if you unplug both plugs from that module, they will connect to each other...then you will just have to rely on others to tell you when you have a bulb out.

In the rear cargo area there is a panel on the drivers side; remove that panel and see if that black box smells burnt. That is your lamp outage module. When that is toast you get that annoying message in the VIC. You can go to the JY and pull one out of another ZJ and see if that gets rid of the message.

had the same problem with a 93 Grand Cherokee, went to the wrecker and tried 2 different lamp outage moduales no change, disconnected the trailer light moduale still no change, went out and bought a set of 921 bulbs and the error light on the VIM is gone. I had used 922 bulbs who would have thought the module was that sensitive.

I am sure this has been solved many ways and many times. My '95 ZJ Limited 4.0L was letting me know in the information center that I had "Rear Lamp Failure" every time I tapped the brakes when I started the Jeep. The message was not as annoying as the six chimes it made so off a googling I went. The majority stated the High Mount 3rd Brake light... So I started... and ended there. There are for sure only TWO bulbs in the high mount light. Yes, use ONLY 921 bulbs. Mine had 906 bulbs in it. As soon as I replaced with 921 bulbs, the message silenced!!! I have had no issues using Sylvania 921 LL bulbs.

Default 93 Laredo rear lamp failure

I’ve been reading a lot of lamp failure posts..perhaps my situation is unique, hopefully not. I have a 93 Laredo with the rear lamp failure message in the VIC. My left brake/running light work however the right and and center light do not. I’ve checked the bulbs and found them in working condition. My Jeep has a towing package from a previous owner. Anyone with a similar situation. Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks!

Disconnect the 2 plugs on the tow lighting package, connect them together and see if your problem disappears.
