Default Rattling noise from underneath

Hey Guys I have a 1994 jeep grand Cherokee 5.2 v8. When i start the truck I'm hearing A rattling noise from underneath. Its intermittent starts then stops. Doesnt matter if I'm in park or drive I hear it at a stand still. The transmission shifts fine. My question is would the transfer case make this type of noise even if the truck is not moving. And any ideas what it could be... Thanks for any feed back in advance.

I am having the same noise on 4.0. I recently rebuilt trans and upgraded the full exhaust system but I can't pinpoint where the sound is coming from. I crawled under it and nothing seems to be rubbing.

Any insite would be great

I would guess a heat shield on the body or if ur t-case linkage is not tight it will rattle. Just lift up ur shiftier a little and see if it goes away. I doubt its something big.

No luck tried lifting 4wd shifter and no change. It sounds like it may be the muffler box but it is brand new. I'm stuck.

i have the same problem
i got up under there with a screwdriver and just started tapping away (holding things down and stuff)
turns out it was my heat shield for my cat converter

so, im not gonna fix it just yet since its not doing anything but being annoying and not causing any problems just yet, i got sag in the back i need to address...
but it really is an annoying noise, kinda embarrassing when out in public too lol
