strange smart key problem

strange smart key problem
I start my jeep grand cherokee, it runs a couple of seconds, then dies.
The smart key light is on. I have a smart key problem, right?
If I put the car in neutral and push it 10 or 20 feet, the problem goes
away. it starts and runs fine. Whats up, how does this have anything to do with the smart key.
