Default Radio says wait.

I entered my radio code incorrectly 3 times and now it says "wait" I have left the ignition on for about 4 hours in the hope this will time out and allow me to enter the code again. It is still saying wait! How long do I have to leave it, or should the engine be runing for this to work?

I have now fixed this. The key needs to be in the engine run position, not just the acc position, for about 45 minutes. A bit of a problem if you dont want to drive that long and have daytime running lights! I just removed the fuse for all the lights, turned the key to run, locked the car and left it for an hour. Came back and the radio said "code"

This is on a 2000 Grand Cherokee with the standard radio with the infinity option, although I think thats just better speakers, cd multichanger and stuff.

I know I'm being a bit thick, but which number is the correct fuse ? Also, would removing the fuse for the radio not solve the problem, so I don't have to leave the Jeep's ignition on with the keys in it ? I only have one key fob, so I wouldn't be able to lock the vehicle.

As far as I know Grand Cherokees up until 2011 didn't have security codes.
