Default radio issue

Ok so last night I had the radio on (pioneer aftermarket) while wiring my power windows. So crossed two wires and lost power in the jeep. I got everything back except the radio.

The previous owner ran the battery wire from the radio harness directly to the positive on the battery. The radio won't come on, and the radios on-board fuse (10A) is not blown I replaced the wire to make sure it had not melted....still nothing.

So the radio is fried, isn't it? Because the PO had no fuse on that battery line. Please tell me its not fried lol.

So on a whim I went back out. I cut the black wire in the harness and ran it to the neg on my extra battery and ran the battery power line to the positive on the battery. Now the fuse is popped. Wth am I doing wrong that shouldn't have popped the fuse
