Radiator replacement
Has anyone done a radiator replacement on a 2004 4.7 with the hydraulic fan? It looks like it can be very time consuming and a PITA!!!

YES, it's a PITA! But then again, since when is doing ANYTHING like that on a jeep easy? NO, I haven't done one, but I've witnessed one being done and listened to the blue air coming from the bay, lol!

From looking at mine I decided the very same thing Dave, I would have to take mine to a shop anyway as my working on anything is almost out of the question.

Fred, my problem is if I had a warm, dry place to work and the option to put down the wrenches and walk away from time to time, I would do more of my own work. My jeep is my only transportation and I need it to make an income. Not a good combination, now that I think about it! I should have kept the Caravan as backup, but I couldn't afford to maintain 2 vehicles on the road. SS is paying the bills, but the weekly check pays for gas and food.

Well i finally replaced my radiator today. I got a OSC radiator from Amazon for $97.00 with free shipping...much better than the $150.00 they wanted from Advance Auto or Autozone. It took about 9 days to get but that was ok because I'm off from work tbis week so i knew I wouldn't have the time to do it until this week anyway. I pulled the old one on monday and installed the new one today....probably took me a total of 5 or 6 hours over the 2 days...just took my time and made sure I didn't forget anything...being that my GC has a hydraulic fan it was a little time consuming. The only problem so far was after i finished, i backed it out of the garage and let it run for a little while and BAM!!!...it was leaking from the opposite side of where the other radiator was leaking!!!! It was just the overflow hose...it seems like its just a liitle loose on the radiator. Luckily i had a very small hose clamp that stopped the leak. Hopefully thats the only problem I'll have with this new radiator!!!!
