I'm usually on the XJ side of the forum, however I'm getting a good deal on a 93 V8 automatic Grand Cherokee, that has no computer at all (it was removed and sent to repair, and never came back)

So my question to you guys, for a 93 V8 GC, is there a single ECM that will work with all, or is there any specific production timeframe or something I will need to take into consideration in order to get the replacement I need, as said before, I don't have the oem engine control module to compare part numbers or anything like that.

I'm pretty sure an ECM from a 93-95 V8 ZJ will work. You might even be able to use a Dodge Dakota V8 ECM from the same years.


Well, I looked up the three different years for the V8 ZJ and they all have different part numbers for the ECM. The Dodge Dakota idea is a bust too.

Thanks for the reply, just remembered that an old friend is running a junkyard, not a big one but kind of a small warehouse, he just deal with Jeeps, so he may have a few ECMs laying around, off course I will have to buy it but I will have the chance to exchange it in case it does not work correctly.
