if the internals of your cat are broken up it will make an annoying rattle,if the cat is somewhat clogged because of that it can cause a loss of power and maybe your idle drop?? unlikely but maybe.

idle dropping to 100 and almost stalling, theres a problem,it's just not throwing a code. I would try a full tune up and the other things already recommended. check for vacuum leaks as well

If no codes are stored you should still get a code 55= No Codes Stored. If you get nothing, either you're not doing it correctly, or you have a problem with your PCM that I don't understand.

Maybe these directions will work better for you.->http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoECUcodes.htm

X2. Unless there's an electrical system fault there probably won't be any codes except 55 present.

This should work. It works on mine. Turn Ign key "On" (not start), Off, On/Off, On/Off, and leave it in the fourth "On" position. Digital odometer numbers will start showing codes without any assistance from you. (On a ZJ anyway.)
If no codes are stored, 55 will appear signaling end of test.

i tried that blue, nothing happins, also i fixed that idling problem, i noticed that my A/c would only blow out of the defrost, soo i did some research, come to find out that one of my vaccum lines were undone on the intake manifold,

also where should my temp hand be, mine stays at 210 or a **** hair below, is this normal, or is this a slight overheating prblem...

Be patient and learn your old girl. You have to do the sequence within 4 seconds, but don't turn it all the way to the lock position, just to the off position. It works. Just keep trying.
My ZJ temp gauge reads about the same. Must be the nature of the beast. It never overheats driving/towing a loaded dolly to Michigan.

You do have a digital odometer don't you? Not the analog style?
