Default quick idol question

sorry if some of my ?'s are farfetched, this is my forst jeep and i just got it 3 days ago...

ok in park it idles at 700-800, thats seems reasonable to me, or so when i tap the gas really QUICK and release the gas pedal, the RPMs go to about 100-200 and acts liek it will shut off but then returns to 700-800.... why would it do that, shouldnt it go back to 700-800 even when i tap the gas really quick?

Try checking to see if any codes are stored. Here's how.>->Jeep Horizons :: View topic - Jeep Computer codes (OBDI & OBDII)

That could be the heat shield covering the converter, or it could be the catalyst inside breaking up. JMO

My '97 Grand Cherokee has a light, but when you do the code retrieval it uses the digital odometer numbers to display the codes. That works up to '99 at least. I know what I'm talking about tater. (see below)
Edit:The key code-retrieval trick doesn't work for '98's.(Thanks seed)

Edit:Buy an aftermarket cat, that's what I did for my '97.
