quick idol question
sorry if some of my ?'s are farfetched, this is my forst jeep and i just got it 3 days ago...
ok in park it idles at 700-800, thats seems reasonable to me, or so when i tap the gas really QUICK and release the gas pedal, the RPMs go to about 100-200 and acts liek it will shut off but then returns to 700-800.... why would it do that, shouldnt it go back to 700-800 even when i tap the gas really quick?

yes as soon as i tap the gas really quick the rpms shoot up as expected but as they return down it goes really low and acts like it wants to turn off and slowly comes back too.... also i have the V6 motor

Try checking to see if any codes are stored. Here's how.>->Jeep Horizons :: View topic - Jeep Computer codes (OBDI & OBDII)

Edit:The key code-retrieval trick doesn't work for '98's.(Thanks seed)
Edit:Buy an aftermarket cat, that's what I did for my '97.
