Putting a cd player in
I am new here and Im so grateful to have found this site. I recently bought a 95 Cherokee Lorado that has multiple problems but for right now I am trying to hook up a new radio. When I bought the truck, the stock radio in it did not work and they also had a 6 disc changer installed into the back of the Jeep but that also didnt work. So I bought a new cd player and when I hooked it up nothing happened, its getting no power at all. The fuse for the radio is fine so Im confused. A bunch of small things dont work like the ciggerette lighter, the radio, the back wiper, the ac, and when the car is off and a door is open it makes a loud ticking sound from right behind the glove box. I dont know much about cars so any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check all of the fuses. The ticking sound may be the dome lamp timer relay, my 95 makes the same noise when one of the fuses on the right side of the dash mounted fuse panel is missing.
Thanks Bustedback. Any ideas why the cd player is getting no power? Ive been looking around online and Im seeing countless stories with the same problems as me but I havnt found an answer yet. It seems like they are notourious for electical problems.
I have a 96 grand Cherokee when I went to hook up a new cd player I found out that in the factory wiring harness there wasn't a wire for power or ground. It was a separate wire. I had to loosen a screw in the back of my new cd player to attach these to then I had power.
I ran into the same problem Ragan. Was your ground and power connected as one wire or are they two seperate wires? I have one black wire with a little metal attatchment on the end coming from the dash that was screwed to the back of my stock radio, I assumed that was the ground wire, am I right? Is that ground and power or just ground?
