purchase research
I'm looking at a 93 Grand Cherokee automatic 4 door. It has 174000 miles on the 4 liter engine. The vehicle is in great shape and looks like it's never been off road. I realize that with these high miles the engine is no spring chicken but I'm more concerned about the transmission. Is this transmission robust even with high miles? This will be my first jeep product and any input into problems with this year would be greatly appreciated. I can get it for $2000.

Since it is a 93 you have a very good chance that it has the AW4 transmission. That is if it is an early 93, 93 and a half and later got the 42RE. The AW4 is a very good and reliable tranmission as long as it has not been abused. Same can be said for the 42RE, but the 42RE does have a few weak spots that could cause some problems.
