start by telling us what you have at the moment? 4.0, 4.7, or 4.7HO?

for the 4.0 a couple things would be a better flowing exhaust. better intake of air. bored TB.

On top of that make sure your maintance is all up to date (plugs, wires, cap, rotor) things like that.

no wires, cap, or rotor on an 01. Uses a coil rail. Definitely go with a cat back high flow exhaust, a free flowing intake like a K&N FIPK helps, the 63 mm bored throttle body really brings it all together. I have all three on mine. See my thread call Wkae up your 4.0L in the forum for specifics. Next will probably add a chip reprogram like a hyperpak unit to get tie it all together. Headers might be next for me after that. I would guess all of this might get you 25 poines. Maybe a bit more, I want to dyno mine to see what it is putting out. To go more you either need nitrous, forced induction (turbo, supercharger), or a stroker.

Put a V8 into it.

Seriously though, Better air flow both in and out (as mentioned before)
Look Here:
http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/exhaust.html

Depending on you budget, there is always forced induction
(ie. Supercharger/Turbo)

For shorts bursts, Nitrous Oxide

Depending on your driving needs, you could always look at re-gearing. Won't actually increase power, but may provide more efficient use of what you have....

Millions of things you COULD do. Really depends on what type of driving you do, and how much money you want to spend...

Later.

forget the chip not worth the money, put your money into better flow through your exhaust, and intake.

Additionally if you pick up the JP mag this month they show the results they gained for various intakes on the 4.0

As Kyle mentioned a piggy back chip is junk. The PCM will just learn the new chip and take you back to factory over a period of time. If you wnat to reprogram your PCM then you either need to send the actual chip in it to someone to write over teh original information, this is troublesome if you have to have service as they will often reflash the chip back to factory or you can get a hypertech unit that allows you to download a new program yourself. I have heard good things about the hypertech programmer and that may be my next preformance mod. The hypertech also allows you to select low or high octane fuel depending on your prefernce giving you even more power enhancement if you wnat to run premium.
