My 2002 WJ front axle pinon seals are leaking. The person i purchased it from just had the outer seals and CV boots replaced less than 5000 miles ago. I dont want to pull all that apart if I dont have to. Any ideas? how labor intensive is it?

Its not too bad.. remove drive shaft, use big socket to remove nut in the yoke, pull yoke, remove seal usually by prying with a screw driver, being careful not to scar the pinion surface, tap in new seal using a large socket or piece of plastic pipe or something the size of the seals outer ring, be sure and oil the rubber seal before installing so as not to wear the new seal on start up. also use RTV red or blue on outer seal surface so it won't leak after installing, make use seal is flat on the case surface, reinstall yoke, reintall nut to 180. should be good to go. Check out a few other threads there are more complete installation directions to be had... This is just from memory. I've put in 3 or 4 and they don't leak. There are utube videos and more preceise instructions elsewhere.. Once you do it, you wonder what all the fuss was about... Just don't overtighten the nut tha will over crush the sleavea and you will have to install a new one...
