passenger side power window problem
Having strange problem with passenger side power window. Checked motor motor is ok and will go up but if you press the switch to go down it does nothing but I'm getting power to both wires from my test light when only one should be getting heat. If you switch the wires around the motor will turn the opposite way making window go down but not up. If you try to use driver side master switch I't wont get any power at all until you keep the one wire connected and ground the other out it goes down or up depending on the wire. Completely baffled anyone got a suggestion on what I should try next. Like I said motor I know is ok pulled it out and it worked fine on rear window even tried new motor same problem and all other windows work fine all wires seem to be ok no shorts on passenger side and locks work and the switch works because I tried it on the rear window. Please help.

I agree with trucker.
I had a different problem, but there is some good info in this thread, including which wires to look for and a wiring diagram link... https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f5/pow...-coming-46384/ . It wound up being my driver's side switch bank + wiring in the door, as willys55 had deescribed. Bad grounds are notorious for causing the type of problem you're having.
