Default Parking brake adjustment 2000 WJ

I have read all kinds of things about this. I tend to go with removing the rubber
plugs on the back wheels and adjusting the the little star thing. I just don't know whether to turn it up or down.

The easiest way to explain this is for you to pull the rear rotors and look at the star wheels. They are right hand thread, so counterclockwise makes the adjuster longer. Also, pulling the rotors lets you check the shoes and loosen up the star wheels if they need it.

You really shouldn't have to adjust the parking brake...unless you drive with it on a lot.

Well. I am trying not to take anything apart. Not trying to make a project out of it. I know the rotors and pads are new. I just notice that when I put the parking brake on it doesn't hold the vehicle on a slight incline. I thought just tightening the parking brake a bit will fix this.

The slot to access the star adjuster is more vertical, rather than horizontal like on drum brakes. The adjuster itself is at a slight angle as well. You can turn it up or down, neither seems to make much of a difference to the tension on brake handle or how the parking brake holds. I set it in the drive way which is on a slight incline and wherever we park I guess.
