Is it ok to lift my jeep 2 inches?
Is it ok and worth it to lift my jeep 2 inches even when I do mostly street and highway driving? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Thank You!!

Sure, it's OK, but it may not be worth it. There isn't much of an advantage unless you're planning to install larger tires to obtain additional ground clearance. I don't think that you'll even like the look of your Jeep without the larger tires. Also any lift, no matter how small, changes the geometry of the suspension and steering systems and also changes the angles of the drive shafts. However, with a two-inch lift, other modifications are unlikely to be necessary.
Having said all that, a two-inch lift with larger tires enhances your Jeep's appearance and its ability for those occasional off-road excursions.

Well said tudor.... If you don't mind losing some mpg on the highway it will further enhance the already stylish looks of your xj. The xj is already a non aerodynamic box kite add 2 inches and on the highway you are just a brick wall moving at 70 mph

If your looking to get that stout look for your Cherokee with out leaving a dent in your wallet, then a 2 inch budget lift is the way to go. You won't have to get longer shocks or add a transfer case drop kit etc. etc. Then you can add some 30X9.50's to get the stout look. Good luck!

Not to mention if you go with a BB now, later down the road when you decide to go with a little more lift you could add in a 4.5 or 3.5" lift along with the BB and have 6.5" or 5.5" of lift in the end... Was what I was thinking of doing, until I found a kick a$$ deal on a very slightly used 4.5" kit to start with...

if all you want is 2" and that is all you think you will ever need(2" is actually very capable!) then i would get an OME kit.
They are a bit pricy for the shocks coils and springs, HOWEVER they are the BEST ride quality that you can get for your cherokee. They perform flawlessly offroad, will let you ride home in comfort.
There is a guy on here with the 3" kit and 33's and you should see where he takes his jeep.(with rock sliders of course).
THe mantra "you get what you pay for" really is proven true with their kits.

It's not ok to lift it 2", you should lift it 4". A 2" is a good start anyways. Like stated above once you lift it, you won't be able to control yourself.

seems as though these guys didnt realize your driveng a wj... so coming from someone with a '00 wj that is lifted with a 2"bb...if you up the tire size with the lift, the look is just enugh to be noticable. and if youve looked at kits your prolly not gunna pay for more than 2" on a dd.
the lift caused no adverse effects on drivability, but once i put the bigger tires on i got a bit of wander which i fixed by relocating the steering stabilizer
the lift came from http://www.fatbobsgarage.com/
and the stabilizer idea from http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/cart/wj...kee-c-230.html

Just did the back half of my wj with a 2" BB from Fat Bob's. you can get new shocks all around for about 60 bucks or so if you wiggle out their combo and a military discount.
Anyway, here's some shots I took for the sake of comparison. Had to take a break since there is no way I'd be willing to do that without a spring compressor again,
