Hi, i have a 2003 jeep grand cherokee laredo… recently i have been having problems with my guage bottoming out when i stop. My oil doesn’t seem to be leaking and my car is driving fine. Today i changed my oil sending unit and it still isn’t working.. what could this mean?
I am going to assume you have a 4.0 in there but you don't say so...
Aftermarket sensors can be hit or miss so...
What did you use for one?
I would have checked the oil pressure first with a mechanical tester.
See where I was at and go from there.
Also the hole that that sensor screws into sometimes gets gunked up.
So the sensor gives a wrong reading.
I have read where guys will use a pipe cleaner to clean it out.
In my '00 XJ I rigged it up so that I could test oil pressure with a mechanical tester and run the gauge at the same time.
I wanted a true reading of what my oil pressure was at a very hot idle and how the cluster gauge compared to the mechanical tester.
They both pretty much read the same so..
That one shot is at a very hot idle.
