Oil on plug threads only? Craked head?
Hi, I'm new on this forum but not to Jeeps
So I rebuilt my 2001 4.7 engine about 3k miles ago....
Rebuilt heads, new pistons and rings, new coils, etc etc....
It has been using oil. At first there was a small leak but that is fixed and still using oil.
I pull the plugs and #6 has oil on the threads ONLY and #8 is white like it's running hot. I just pulled the valve cover and everything seems to be fine.
Valve cover gaskets are new and so are coils so I don't see how oil could get there from the outside. Really the only place I find oil is on the spark plug threads, none above nor below the threads.
Anyone know why that oil might be there and with the next cylinder showing its running hot could they be from the same problem? Like maybe that rebuilt head has a crack?
Again..... oil is ONLY on the thread of the #6 plug.... Nowhere else...
Thanks Much in advance
