Well I use Valvoline 10w-30 oil and I currently have mopar filters that I got on sale at wally world..I also hear all sorts about fram but my neighbor has used em for years with no issues..Whether they are good on not is eh who knows..I do know I don't use Penzoil and Quaker state for 1 reason they use paraffin wax in their oil..

If you look though, there are a couple of synthetic products from these marketers that still meet the SL specifications.

Friend of mine bought a Nova from a guy who used Quaker State oil and STP at every oil change. When we went to rebuild the motor we couldn't hardly get the intake off and when we got it off it looked like string cheese in the intake galley. He just junked that block and found another.

Honestly, I just like Fram because I don't have to use a filter wrench to change it. There's no room for one in my Heep, and there's barely enough room for my knuckles, so whatever makes the tedious task of changing my oil easier, I'm all for it.

I like the K&Ns as they get good reviews and when evaluated for performance always score well. THey also have teh nut welded on them which is a life saver on my wife's libby.

Fram filter and castrol oil (its usually the cheapest on sale)
In the diesel truck. Fleetguard filter and amsoil 15w40 syn. Expensive truck...must make it last to get my moneys worth.

The cheap Frams are genuinely junk. I used to use them all the time. I then switched to the high end frams which are better. Now I use teh K&N out of ease of removal as for some reason teh 3.7 in my wife's libby is a pita and is always stuck on needing brute force to remove and the nut on the end makes it much easier. Used to have to drive a screwdiver through the filter to get enough leverage to spin it free. And yes I always pre oil the filter and seal and do not overtighten them

Granted Pennzoil isnt the greatest, but ANY clean oil is better than ANY dirty, used up 5,000 mile scorched torched oil!
