Default Oil dipstick problem

Hello!
I was checking engine oil level today and got really confused when i could not put back oil dipstick. it pulls out easily, but its really hard to put it back (5-10 attempts with pliers help). How to fix this? Does anyone know design of dipstick tube? No scratches on dipstick. I have 96 Grand Cherokee 5.2 v8

well it could be as simple as u have to lay the stick in the tube flat.. if u try and put it in on an angle it wont go down the tube...

make sure u are putting it in correctly and see if that works..

Another question is how does your dipstick look.. if it is all rusty the tube may be too and have build up in it and need to be pulled off and cleaned out.

i tried to do that... tried to put it in different angles, flat, rotate it 180... it goes in only if i try to insert it slowly rotating and pulling down hard with pliers. I have a feeling that something is bended inside the tube... Dipstick looks new, no rust and no scratches

its possible at sometime someone bent or kinked the tube... Might be time to buy a new tube and o-ring and just replace them.

GOOD luck!

The easy DIY fix is to go to the JY, buy a dipstick and tube, and slap that puppy on.
