Default Oh boy whats this sound

I just had my transmission and transfer case rebuilt like a month ago. I used 4wd FT for the first time today and on acceleration and deceleration it sounded like one of those nerf ***** you throw and it whistles. What could that be???

Just wondering why you didn't try everything out right away? At this point they could say you screwed it up.

I had two different size tires on the back then the front I didnt want to mess my drive line up by over working it. It comes with a 12 month 120k mile warranty I doubt they will say they wont fix it. It sounds like one of those nerf ***** that whistle when you throw it on acceleration and deceleration. It kind of sounds like maybe a metal on metal noise but not hard grinding if anything a light scrapping kind of like when your brakes are low.

I am assuming he had 2 different sized tires before and that was why he had not used the 4x4 until now.

Yeh I had two different tires on the jeep I never owned a 4wd vehicle I always have owned fwd cars and I learned engines. I could never afford a 4wd vehicle until a few years ago I thought you could have new tires on the front and the old tires on the rear. I was wrong it blew my transfer case thats why I had it rebuilt. I then had to wait a month to get some money for tires. I kept it in 2wd until I got all 4 of the same tires put on my Jeep. Then I put it in 4wd and it make that noise. I took it back to the shop the owner said no problem they will fix it. No one tells you these things when you buy a 4WD vehicle they just care about getting paid. Ive learned a ton about front and rear diffs and transfer cases and drive lines ect. Its a lot different from fwd tuners

yep its also alot of fun
and forums like this are full of info to help new people get into it

in my opinion learning the world of.off road and 4x4's is half the fun

the other half is keeping the 4x4 in one piece and to do it again next weekend

One thing I'm going to warn you about. Don't EVER turn sideways on a hill. I saw a guy with a brand new Blazer on a hill climb lose traction, start backing down, and thought he'd turn it around on the hill. He rolled it 4 times before it reached the bottom! Ouch!

If you want to do the off-road stuff, watch the videos, got to a meet, watch the guys and ask questions. Most of them will give you advise and even help you negotiate the rough stuff. We're a great bunch of guys looking to have fun.
