Question OEM vs Aftermarket

I bought a new Jeep about 3 weeks ago, and I've been fixing it up, just general maintainance for the winter. Next year I'll start to have some fun with it. But my question is this, I was checking the air filter and it def. needs replaced. Which is better for the jeep in general the OEM air filter or getting an after market air filter (not a whole air intake)?

After seeing test results, I prefer to just stick with a plain paper filter. "Performance" type filters let too much past them and won't increase your gas mileage, contrary to what the box says.

Yeah standard paper filters are ok. No need for performance parts unless you do complete systems like, intake, header and full exhaust. Otherwise stock/aftermarket parts are plenty sufficient. Be sure to check all your other fluids and keep up with full maitnance like tranny, transfer case and diff fluids.

I've used Fram Tough Guards for years and never had a bit of trouble with them. I started using them because of the non-skid paint they put on the end, my car didn't have any access for a filter wrench, and they've proven themselves on several vehicles. I've put them in Mazda, Olds, Lincoln, Chrysler, Ford, Chevy and of course Jeep, and they've been great.

Good choosing the plain paper filter 4Doors. I admire with that.
