Check engine light just on, code number is U1411, on a 2006 3.7L. Any common fixes or leads? (I still need to replace the ignition switch, doing that this weekend) Thanks

Found this on another forum...
Never heard of it before, but looking at my troubleshooting guide looks like it is a computer problem. Probably need a dealer/good mechanic... here ya go.
WHEN MONITORED
Ignition on.
SET CONDITION
The fuel volume message the PCM is receiving is implausible. The circuit is continuously monitored.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
CAN B open or shorted
Cluster module
Front control module
PCM
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.
Theory of Operation
The Front Control Module isn't receiving a fuel volume signal over CAN B from the Cluster Module. The FCM has to send the PCM a fuel volume signal over CAN C. The signal the FCM sends over CAN C is implausible.
DIAGNOSTIC TEST
1. ACTIVE DTC Ignition on, engine not running.
With a scan tool read DTCs.
Q: Is the DTC active at this time?
YES: Go To 2
NO: Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION Diagnostic Procedure. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.
2. CAN B BUS HARDWARE DTCS ALSO ACTIVE
With a scan tool check for DTCs in the FCM. Q: Are any CAN B Hardware related DTCs active at this time?
YES: (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING) for the appropriate diagnostic procedures. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
NO: Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module per Service Information. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.

I hope the new switch is it. This is my (19 yr.old) daughters first vehicle,... she insisted on owning, once she got out of basic training in the Air Force, and got a job on base. And a lot of minor things are popping up along with the CEL. Can you recommend an inexpensive OBD2 scanner for minor issues? I found a ton of them on e-bay but got frustrated at all the choices.
