Default NSS issue

I recently bought a used grand cherokee, it is a 93,
I had it inspected only to realize that the reverse lights dont work, so we trouble shooted the problem to discover that it was the NSS. So while trying to remove it we broke it. and are now looking to purchase one on ebay. Does anyone know an ebay seller to order one from? and from what ive read the only thing that matters when getting one is the year and weather it is for manual or standard? does AWD matter?

Welcome to CF. It's the same part for 2WD and AWD. Your '93 should have the AW4 trans.

Default I am having trouble with my NSS as well

I just bought a 1994 Cherokee from a guy who had been letting it sit for the past 8 years, because he did not want to pay the $300 for a new neutral safety switch.

I brought it home, cleaned it up and put a new battery and cables on it. I also poored a bottle a "seafoam" brand gas treatment in the gas tank to help the small amount of old gas that might still be in it. (maybe 1/8 of tank on gauge before added gas) I also put 4 gallons of fresh gas in it.

Then, I took off the old neutral safety switch and took it apart to clean it. I put it back together and just mounted it back on.

Now it turns over but will not start unless I am spraying starter fluid in the throddle body. It will start a a second, very rough sounding then die again.

Any suggestion?

The NNS for the 42RE is less than twenty bucks at any auto parts store. The guy with the 94 ZJ needs a fuel pump.

That's good info. I thought they switched with the '94 model change.

Thanks for the suggestion about the fuel pump. That was my thought as well, but since this is my first Jeep to own, I wanted to check with others owners before I replaced the fuel pump.

I appreciate the feedback.

You can tell if its an aw4 or 42re by looking at the shifter I believe that an aw4 has 1-2 in the same spot then it goes 3 and d. The 42re has separate gears for 1st and 2nd.

left is a 42re and right is a aw4

I am looking for not just the switch but the entire harness. Went to my
Local part store and They said they've never even seen the part before. I'm wondering if there is maybe another name
For it?

Reverse light switch. The one switch does both functions.
