Default NP242 compared to Quadra-Drive II

They both seem the same other than the QDII is eLSD front and back while the NP242 (at least in the Cherokee) is locking front and back.

How comparable is the QDII? Is it as good or a better system?
Looking for SUV with full time 4x4 and at least a locking rear end and there isn't much selection. Everything is LSD and going electric (I assume means it uses the brakes).

First, I assume your talking Grand Cherokees? The 242 will have 2wd, 4full time, 4 part time, and 4 low. Quadradrive will only have 4full time and 4 low.

Hmm... For some reason I was thinking that it had a Part-Time 4Hi.

Anyways, it only has eLSD.
In FullTime 4x4 I can see the advantages of this in the QDII compared to the np242 FullTime 4x4 that is just open diffs front and back.

I do like that bit.

Lets say in 4Lo on both how would these compare?
4x4Lo with eLSD vs 4x4Lo with lockers on snowy hilly terrain (road and trails), or even trailing through what could be entirely mud trail.

For the LSD functionality on the QDII system. Does it actually use LSD diffs, or does the computer just apply the brakes to get the electronic "LSD"?

I'm pretty sure the Quadradrive uses a true LSD called Vari-lock. Both cases should have a 2.72:1 low ratio. Ideally selectable lockers would be best but LSD is better than nothin
