Not sure there's a problem, but...

It seems like the starter should spin the engine faster than it does. Are these Jeep sensitive to how much cranking amps they need? I wonder if my starter is dragging (worn out) I measured voltage with the switch off, and I had 12.55vdc, and running it was 13.60vdc, seems normal doesn't it?

Test for a voltage drop at the starter and compare it to a voltage drop at the battery while cranking the engine over......Should not drop below 9.6volts and the difference between the starter and the battery drop should be no more than .5volts Another cause of this symptom is loose, corroaded conections at the battery, starter, and engine ground.

I had replaced the battery that was in it, with one out my old car, but I think it's not quite enough. I did check the ground to the engine and the frame, and they checked out fine, so I cleaned them anyway and put some silicone grease on the connections. I am going to get the correct bettery for it, and I'm betting it will be the cure. Thank to all that responded.
