Default New to me zj

Just picked up a sweet 94 in great condition. However I just discovered I gave open rear end dana 35. I'm not going to do any hardcore offroading so I want to upgrade to posi trac. Sooo, what is my better option. Swap out entire axle, swap internals with junk yard trac lok or install Detroit?

Thanks for the input for newby.

Chuck

D35 can handle mild wheeling, but too large of a tire and you may start breaking parts. 8.25 Chrysler or 8.8 Ford swap is an alternative.

As for posi, a lunchbox locker is always an easy upgrade.

Drive it until it breaks, then upgrade. You will be able to get pretty far on most trails without a locker.

I have the same rear axle on mine. I've had no problem wheeling with it. I'm running 31 inch tires. Instead of up grading the axle I through on a winch. Mainly because I already had it. Lol

I'm going with lunchbox because it's the easy fix. We have a lot of mud and I figure I will need some help getting thru it.

If the Jeep is a daily driver, you may ONLY want to lock the rear. Front lockers give ALOT of people fits during normal DD.

That's what I'm going to do. Hopefully it will get me thru most situations.

BTW. Rough Country 3.5" lift and tires are going on this weekend.
