I bought a jeep grand Cherokee larado 4wd with a 318 and I can't get it to spark or the fuel pump to come on . I've replaced the crank sensor , cap and rotor , battery , asb relay , fuel pump relay , and still nothing. All the dash lights come on when you turn the key on and it cranks over just fine. Just not getting spark or fuel. I'm going to test the CPS today but if anyone has any suggestions I'm eager to here them . I'm desperate to get this on the road as its soon to be my only means of transportation very soon . Thanks .

it could very well be a faulty CPS.
but, there is another sensor in the dizzy, under the cap/rotor. it's the cam sensor. gives the same symptoms as a bad crank sensor.

i agree the cps sensor can be bad and always the culprit

make sure its tightened down well.. check all and any wires connected to it.. its been a while cant remember exactly whats down there

it could also be the ignition coil check for cracks and look at the wire to makes sure its good also check the pick up coil

when i had the no start issue on a 99 4.0 it was a cocktail of 7 things cps sensor, ignition coil ignition stem cap rotor and i had bad grounds that go along the pass side block and the wire coming up from the alternator going into the main relay block where all of your main relays are like your fuel pump relay etc was corroded. did all of that and it fired right up.

i would focus on the spark first then when that locked in spray ether in the throttle body and see if it starts so u can rule out the fuel pump quickly.

I would look at the cam position sensor in the dizzy. Do you know how to test either one of them?

When you put the key in the ignition, and turn it to the run position, does the check engine light come on? My jeep WILL NOT start if the light does not come on, so before I go to start it I have to wait about 30ish seconds for the light to come on and then I can actually turn it on just fine. Before the light turns on I hear a humming sound coming from the right side and a few other like clicking noises, not sure what it is but turns on after the check engine light comes on. I can send you a video of what mine does if you’d like
