Love the forum, been stalking a good bit since I bought a very clean 93 Grand Cherokee about two weeks ago. It is a 5.2 with the full time 4wd.

I picked up a set of new rims yesterday and am about to pull the trigger on a set of 31/10.50-15 tires. So, I'm looking to do one of the 3.5 inch lifts that have been discussed here.

On the way back, after a day of freeway driving, I started having an issue when making sharp turns. Seems like the rear end was either locking up or something?? Felt like the rear end was jumping on the inside tire.

From doing a few searches, seems like my issue may be the 249 viscous coupling transfer case. If that's the case, I'd just as soon go with a part-time 4wd case. I've seen mentioned that a 242 or 231 case would be better than the 249 case??

Is there a good link or website on doing this swap?? I'd just as soon do this while I'm doing the lift. Any info would be appreciated.

Also, where can I find a case??? What to look for, etc?? All advice appreciated.
