Need some help
Hey all,
I have a 97 straight 6 grand cherokee Laredo. For the past few months I have had an intermittent problem with no crank no start. I have tried pulling off the passenger side door, and even looking underneath the dashboard. I believe this is related to the security system, however I do not run into the issue where the car actually will crank over and stall out. Mine is a no crank no start, I turn the key the lights go dark, and nothing happens. When I have disconnected the battery from the vehicle for an extended amount of time this seems to reset everything. As long as I do not open the doors before unlocking with the key fob I am usually okay. I'm uncertain how to bypass the security system on this particular vehicle, and the downfall is that I can not seek and aftermarket car start / security system for this model. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've begun to pour a lot of money into this vehicle, and it's becoming a money pit.
Thanks

Busted's got it. Either the battery is no good or the cable connections are at fault. Have the battery charged and load tested, and replace the cable ends.
If the security system was at fault, you'd still be able to crank it.

Battery is 2 years old. I will replace today along with the connections, and see if that helps. Thanks, Will keep you all apprised of the situation. I appreciate the help.
