Default Need to help a friend ASAP

A friend just called me and he is broke down on I70 Eastbound in IL near Mulberry Grove. Left AZ on Monday and Grand Cherokee has been running fine. It just quit running while doing 65 mph on the freeway. Got safely to the side of the road where he now sits. Cranks but won't restart. Nearly a full tank of fuel. Need suggestions ASAP.
Thanks
Doug

That's rough news Doug. It's hard to diagnose something without knowing all the info about the vehicle. That being said, these vehicles sometimes have an issue of randomly losing power/ no start, and it is usually the crank position sensor.
This will explain w/pics how to replace it. http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoCPSchange.htm

Good luck.

Default no start ... maybe CPS?

Thanks for responding so quickly. Yes, it's hard to diagnose from afar. What we did so far ... turn on key and CAN hear fuel pump ... checked fuses and relays ... disconnected battery for about 30 min ... all other systems seem OK ... ran about an hour at 65 mph since buying fuel before suddenly quitting.
That's all I've got. He's there with the car ... some cash ... no credit cards ... it's his daughter's car that she decided she didn't want so she stopped paying the loan ... he has a friend to buy it in Indiana ... you try and help your kids and you get smacked upside da head for doing it.
Wish him luck ... prayers help, too. Doug

Well driving for an hour eliminates the possibility of bad gas. It would have shown up sooner, I would think.
Maybe have AAA tow it off of the interstate. Or they can tow it up to 100 miles and charge your road service.
