I just purasched a 2wd 96 Laredo and I can barely read the speedo... I checked the lights behind it and the lights r fine but I can't find the dimmer switch...anything to help would b greatly appricated

 

The dimmer is a slider switch on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. It has two click stops, all the way up, it turns on the interior lights, and all the down, it keeps them for coming on when you open the doors. This switch is a normal fault with the ZJ (Grand Cherokees up til 98). They can be taken apart and cleaned and resoldered, although I've never done it. The normal problem is flashing while driving or going out altogether.
