What engine and transfer case do you have?
I know the ZJ V8s with the NP249 transfer case eventually need to have their viscous coupler serviced around 140,000 - 150,000 miles. A bad one can lead to strange steering and jerking.

It'll help you in the long run to elaborate on your subject title so that it catches the eyes of our resident experts. Generic "need help" titles are all too common here. Be specific.

Old fart with a wrench
With those shift options it sounds like a 242 transfer case. Check your front wheel u-joints on the axles. They could be shot or at least dry of grease. My '97 had thrown a cap on one of the axle u-joints and it seemed normal driving straight but hopped and screeched in a turn.
