Need Engine & Info
Have a 99 GC w/4.0 Auto, bad engine, like to know what options I have, if I replace w/newer engine, do I have to replace the electronics etc... any info would be appreciated. Might build mine, hope to have it out in a day or two, see how bad it is. Also like to know what is best code reader w/out spending a fortune$$. thanks LW

No. 5 Cylinder has busted piston, getting ready to pull out, if block's OK, might rebuild but has just under 200K on it, would be good time to replace w/low time engine.

Welcome to CF. If you replace it with a newer engine just remember to use your '99 sensors, or replace them with new 'ones for a '99 so they still work with your Powertrain Control Module. The connectors might have changed, or you might have issues when using different sensors, and it could be hard to diagnose, if it would even run.
